Highway U.S.A & The Dimensional Frontier
Inaugural Event: Friday, September 19, 1997 7:30 PM
Fall 1997

Highway U.S.A is a spectacular 3D slide show originally produced by a paving equipment manufacturer for the 1948 Construction Exposition and Road Show in Chicago. One-hundred full-color stereo views spanning 20,000 miles of highway from Broadway to Bryce canyon capture all the grandeur of America and many lovely automobiles. Accompanied by the original soundtrack, featuring narration by Paul Harvey. Graciously provided by the Oliver Wendell Holmes Research Library.

The Dimensional Frontier: National Stereoscopic Association board member and Starlog Magazine editor David Hutchison presents a survey of 3D imaging applications past and present. From the parlor stereoscope to VR, to his own work behind the scenes at science-fiction film sets, every aspect of 3D is covered through a wide variety of images.
Free and open to the public. Bring your own polarizing glasses if possible.
