Spring 3D Workshop
Sunday. April 23, 2-5pm
Spring 2005
American Museum of Natural History
Leonhardt People Center, Second Floor
We'll have an informal time to share photography and digital processing techniques. The People Center is the perfect place for breakouts, rap sessions in the conversation pit, and deep encounters in the rooms with carpeted walls. Jim Harp will demonstrate making digital anaglyphs from stereo pairs, and show some of the large prints from his recent exhibition at the Portland 3D Center. Joe Pedoto will talk about capturing stereo pairs with a single digital camera and share his new skill in the false window technique shown above. Sheldon the Magnificent will show some of his magical vintage lenticulars, and we'll have some information available about a new lenticular camera and processing service. Other members will be available to help answer questions about shooting and mounting pictures from a vintage stereo camera.
Around 3:30, we will adjourn to the small theater in the People Center for some 3D projection. We're working on assembling some ViewMaster treasures for projection, so stay tuned for more information about the show.
*The Trashasaurus Wrecks is a sculpture 24 feet long and 16 feet high comprised entirely of materials recalimed form the garbage. It weighs one tone, representing the amount of trash the average American throws away each year. Trashasaurus Wrecks is on permanent display at the Children's Garbage Museum in Stratford, CT. This facility is also a recycling plant that serves 18 towns in Fairfield County. The CGM has educational exhibits, videos and a walkway that allows visitors to see the recycling process up close.
