Claudia Kunin at the Annenberg Space for Photography

Impossible Possible - anaglyph

New York Stereoscopic Society member Claudia Kunin will be highlighted in an upcoming group exhibition at the Annenberg Space for Photography. Digital Darkroom opens December 17, 2011 and runs through May 28, 2012.

The exhibit features 17 artists including Maggie Taylor, Jerry Uelsmann, and Josef Astor. Each artist is considered a master of digital techniques.

Claudia Kunin’s archives are to become a part of the photography collection of the Smithsonian Institution The archive will include her photography, journals, source materials, and the Stereo Realist transparencies shot by her father. Kunin's work incorporates her own photography with daguerreotypes, black & white family snapshots, and her father’s stereo transparencies. Digital Darkroom will present various series including “Ghost Stories”, “Holy Ghost Stories”, “Family Ghost Stories”, “Theoretical Ghost Stories”, and Kunin's latest work in 3D animations.

Flight of Persephone - anaglyph

A documentary film will premiere at the exhibit in a specially built 3D theater. It explores the history of stereoscopic photography and features selected artists from the show filmed in 5K resolution using Red Epic cameras. The film demonstrates how Kunin photographs her subjects and alters them digitally to prepare her images for exhibition.

UPDATE - Digital Darkroom in Los Angeles

Mark Golebiowski observes that the Digital Darkroom exhibition at the Annenberg Space for Photography also features the stereoscopic work of Chris Schneberger. Chris presented The Strange Case of Dr. Addison and the Crosswell Twins for our Spring 2006 event at AMNH.
